For this challenge, choose a fairy tale/fable that is familiar to you, whether you love or hate it – and REWRITE some aspect, element.

You have a week to consider and respond to this challenge. When done, please link up by creating a pingback and enter your response on the official linky site. Please include the tags Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie and Fairy Tale/Tale Weaver Prompt in your responses. And finally, somewhere in your post, not necessarily in the story, character sketch, poem, but as a note/reference, please name the tale or fable that has inspired you, just in case you end up happily running off on some tangent that is so far removed from the original that we are left wondering at what inspired your genius!

There once was a spinster who had long in vain wished for a child.

She helped a young couple from financial ruin in exchange for adopting their first child, a girl.

She was very protective of the child , named her Tangled and she seldom let her speak to anyone.

Tangled was very lonely and spent long hours singing in her room, which could be heard when passing her house. One day Jonathan heard Tangled’s beautiful voice and ventured to speak with her.  He went to her bedroom window and they secretly had long conversations.

They decided to marry, so he took a ladder, propped it against the house and was going to rescue her, but the old spinster discovered the ladder and caused it to collapse bringing the ladder and Jonathan to the ground.

The spinster took Tangled to another country and left her to fend for herself all alone.

Jonathan had injured himself badly from the fall and spent many years being treated by various doctors.  He even traveled to other countries seeking professional care.

One afternoon,  while being treated at a hospital, Jonathan looked up and was staring in Tangled’s beautiful blue eyes.

Tangled treated his injury with her special medical skills and Jonathan made a full recovery.

They married and lived a very long and happy life together.
