WEEK #34

ANNIE’S HOUSE

Annie had lived in the house since she was a small child.  Having to sell it was difficult.  There were so many memories made there.

She invested a lot of money to update the house and she wanted to live in it forever, but could not afford the house payments any longer.

The day after the sale of the house,  she was walking across the road and hit by a car.  She died immediately.

Over the years, many families lived in the house, but none stayed very long.

Annie became very excited the day the city posted a do not trespass sign in the yard.

She could finally relax and enjoy her house by herself!

Bird In A Cage

“Sushi, where are you?”  Macaroni wondered.  “I’ve been on this fence long enough!”

“Oh! There you are.  Where have you been?  I’ve been worried about you.”

“I flew into a sudden rain storm a few miles from here.  It was awful!”  Sushi explained.

“You look terrible!  Did you crash into something?”

“No, I’m just drenched.”

“I saw a parakeet laying on a bush and it was barely breathing,”  Sushi said.

“A parakeet!”

“Yes, you know, one of those birds that live in a cage in a human’s house.”

“Oh! Yes, I’ve heard about that kind.  I wonder how it got out of the cage.”

“The cage was hanging on the porch and when it rained, the wind blew, it fell off the hanger and crashed against the porch rail,  then landed on a bush.”

“The human rushed out to rescue the poor bird, but it was too late.  The bird got hurt when the cage fell and dumped him out on top of the bush.”

“Well, at least it wasn’t concrete!”  Macaroni said.

“No, but the bush had a lot of stickers on it!”

“Ouch!  That hurts just thinking about it!”

MINE

Suddenly, we heard a loud rumbling sound and there was complete darkness!

The silence I experienced after the rumble, shook me to the realization that we were in serious trouble.

I called out to Bob, Frank, Jose, and Ryan, but did not receive a response.

I scanned the area for any sign of light, but there was not even a flicker.

Any kind of movement was impossible for me, so I laid there praying and passed out from the pain in my back.

It took the rescuers over two hours to clear the area of the coal mine and rescue us.

Today’s Bus Ride

After riding on the bus, for what seemed like forever, I looked up and saw a woman sitting in the seat behind the driver.

There was no movement from her until the bus driver turned sharply to the right, and the woman fell sideways.

I jumped up from my seat and rushed over to her, to see if she was alright.

It was at that moment when I saw blood dripping from her sweater.

A closer look revealed a small knife protruding from her chest.

I immediately notified the bus driver and he brought the bus to a stop.

The driver called the police and an  ambulance.

I listened to the news and heard about a woman being stabbed on a bus today.

Apparently,  her husband had gotten angry with her and stabbed her with his pocket knife before exiting the bus.

After being questioned by  the police, he confessed to stabbing her.

She is at the hospital in critical condition.

A RIDE IN THE PARK

Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers

Week of 08-08 through 08-14-2017

This week’s photo prompt is provided by Dorothy. Thank you Dorothy!

A Ride In The Park

“Bethany, let’s rent one of Jonathan’s bicycles  and ride around the park today instead of walking,” Adam suggested.

“This is fun, but I wish we could go to one of the National Parks and ride around.  Our park is too small”,  Bethany said.

“Yes,  that would be great!  We could go to Cuyahoga Valley National Park right here in Ohio.”

“Thank you for renting one of my bicycles,” Johnathan said.

“We enjoyed the ride, but we wish our park was larger,” Bethany said.

“Where would you like to ride?” Jonathan asked.

“We think the Cuyahoga Valley National Park would be a nice place to ride,” Adam said.

“That does sound like a great place. Adam, push the blue button on the side of the handlebar.  Now, push the one hour button and say the name of the park,” Jonathan said.

Adam looked puzzled, but did as Jonathan instructed and immediately, he and Bethany were riding around in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park!

AGAIN

“Burbank, we received another case right after you left to go home, so I started working on it right away,” Joe said.

“It’s really ugly this time and so strange because two people were found in a large container filled with a foul-smelling liquid.”

“Let me take a look,” Burbank said.

“Oh no, not again!”

“What do you mean again?”  Joe asked.

“I think the Pickle man is active again because he always drowns his victims in pickle juice!”

Car Crash

“Dad! We are going to crash into the side of the bridge and go into the river!” Austin screamed.

“Hang on tight, I’m trying to get the brakes to work,” Jordan said.

“We have stopped now, but our car is hanging over the side rail and we need to get out quickly!”

“I can’t get my seatbelt loose, Dad!”

“Let me do it.”

“Dad! Our car is rocking and we are going to fall into the lake!”

“Austin, I have to use my pocket knife to cut the strap.”

“Hurry, Dad!”

“Try to calm down and sit very still, so I can get this strap cut. ”

“Alright, I want you to carefully open the car door and jump out.”

“What about you dad? You have to get out too!”

“Don’t worry, when you are out, I will get out too.”

” Get out dad, get out!”

Jordan  jumped out just before the car went over the side of the bridge.”

“Marie, why do you come here day after day?  She’s gone, and you know she isn’t here waiting for you!”  Melissa said.

“I don’t know!  I just need to come !”

“Alright, but let’s at least eat outside this time.”

“No!  I need to sit inside.”

“Who is that woman over there?  I always see her here, ” Maria asked.

“I have no idea, but why do you think it’s important?”

“Because I saw her here the day Emily disappeared.”

“So, that’s not unusual.  She probably eats here on a regular basis because she likes the food.”

“Oh no!  I just saw that woman take that little boy outside and he doesn’t belong to her,” Maria said.

“How do you know?”

“Because when we came in he was sitting with a man and she was sitting on the other side of the room. The man just went toward the restroom.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes!  We have to call the police!

“Thankfully you were so alert, Maria.  The police stopped another kidnapping and you have your daughter back home with you!  The police said they found four of the missing children, and all were alive,”  Melissa said.

The Jump

“I have my parachute on and will follow you down uncle Joe,” Alex said jokingly.

“You stand back and Emily will record my jump,”  Joe said.

The door opened, Alex moved a little closer, knocked against the tripod which caused him to slip and fall forward.

He fell against Alex, then fell out of the plane.

His first reaction was panic, but he remembered to pull the cord and his parachute opened.

He realized, with satisfaction, he was jumping for the first time and was hoping Emily was recording it!
