FLASH FICTION FOR THE PURPOSEFUL PRACTITIONER- 2017
WEEK #24
Unforgettable Fishing Day
“Dad! I think I caught one! It’s my first fish! ” Tyler screamed.
“Yes, and it’s a real big one too.”
“I don’t care if it’s raining, I love to go fishing,” Tyler giggled.
“We have to go back, it is still raining and getting dark.”
“What’s wrong, Dad? Why won’t the motor start?”
“I don’t know, but we can use the oars since we aren’t far from shore.”
“The oars aren’t here. I forgot to put them back in the boat last week.”
“The wind is so strong! What’s wrong? Dad! Can you hear me? Wake up Dad!”
Tyler fumbled around for the flashlight, but when raising it, he dropped it in the water. He reached for the emergency kit and the top of it jammed, so he couldn’t get it open.
Water kept splashing in the boat as it rocked up and down on the water.
Tyler remembered the whistle he had around his neck and started blowing it in hopes of someone hearing it.
“Hello Bart,” Mason said as he entered the hospital room. You and Tyler came close to losing your life today, but everything is fine now. The coastguard got to you just in time.”

Wonderfully told, Jessie, the tension very well-captured.

This is great writing Jesssie. Smoothly written and held me rapt! I’m so glad they were both okay. Poor boy probably felt horrible for forgetting the oars etc.
