The Decision
“Thad, can’t you get transferred from the emergency room duty to another part of the hospital?” Hannah asked.
“I’ve been thinking about that especially after such a relaxing week at the beach, but I’m not sure that’s what I really want to do.”
He looked out at the boats and saw a young child walking on one of them. The child leaned over the side of the boat, lost his footing and fell in the water.
Thad jumped up from the beach blanket and raced toward the water when he saw the child slip and fall in the water. He reached the child, pulled him to safety and his parents frantically reached for him.
The child had woken from a nap and slipped away without his parents knowledge.
After he returned and explained to Hannah what happened, he sat in silence for a few minutes, then said,” Hannah, I know, I do not want to move from the emergency room.”
