Saving Lives
The hospital was full of patients clinging to life after an explosion at a gasoline station.
Darkness had set in by the time my shift ended at the hospital and it began to snow as I walked to my car.
I felt exhausted and mindlessly drove away slowly, but became very alert when I saw a woman carrying a bundle. She was having difficulty walking as she pushed against the wind and snow.
I noticed a vehicle nearby that had apparently slid off the road and hit a tree.
I stopped, got out and as I approached her I saw small feet protruding from the bundle. The child was motionless.
Tears and snow covered her face as she looked at me with pleading eyes.
I rushed her and the child to the hospital.
The woman and child were in serious condition, but I knew they would recover.

Dramatic take, there’s whole other stories to be told in the explosion, and then the woman and the child. Well done.
