SIX SENTENCE STORIES Clue…block

CURIOSITY
My curiosity got the best of me one day and I just had to investigate what was going on in the house down the block from where I lived.
I waited until everyone was sleeping, then crept out of my room and quietly stepped outside.
The night was frigid and I almost gave up my quest for an answer, but decided to follow through with my plan.
The house in question still had lights on even though it was already three o’clock in the morning and I heard some noise coming from the little shed attached to the house.
As I climbed on top of a garbage can so I could look in a window, my foot slipped, I fell to the ground, and was suddenly picked up by a very large and angry man, taken inside and roughly thrown on a chair!
I saw stacks of money on a table, a machine making more, and suddenly the door to the shed opened, policemen entered, handcuffed the man and we were taken to the police station, questioned and then I was released to my angry, but grateful parents.

As a child I would always imagine what went on in the other houses in the street. Lucky your (child?) character was not kept at the police station as an accomplice!

wandering (the) neighborhood at 3 in the morning! very adventurous youth in your story! late at night is one thing, 3 in the morning is a most inimical of times to be out and about, child or no child!

So true. When our son was 10 years old , we received a call from the police at 2 in the morning asking if we had a son named Steven. He and 2 friends were found walking along a major road. Imagine our shock …thinking he was safely home sleeping in his bed! They were on their way to an all night convenience store. Children have a way of causing you to grow old fast!

True, she may not have been around to talk about it! Kids have a way of getting themselves in circumstances beyond their control and she can thank the police for being on top of the situation .
