Broken Family

“That statue is broke, just like our family, ” cried Becky.

“Honey, we will be together again, just as soon as they rebuild the rooms on our house the fire destroyed,” Her mom said.

“Mommy, we can buy a tent to live in, then our family will not be broken any more,” Becky cried.

“That won’t work, sweetie.”

“Hi!  Mrs. Weldon, ” Mr. Johnson said. “I’m so sorry about your house burning.  May I speak with you for a moment?”

“Sure!  Shelly take Becky over there to see the other statues,” Mrs. Weldon said.

“Mrs. Weldon, I would like for you and your daughters to live in my cottage while they rebuild your house.”

“Thank you, but I can’t afford it.”

“There will be no charge.  I would appreciate you looking after it for me, and taking care of the vegetable and flower gardens.  I will be out of the country for six months.”

Mr. Johnson walked back to his car and heard the girls screaming with excitement, which put a smile on his face.

  1. That was such a nice thing for the neighbour to do. Probably gives the mother so much relief, not having to worr about where they’ll stay when their home is rebuilt, at least for part of the time 🙂

  2. Yes, and thankfully there are people like that. It’s difficult enough when you are by yourself, but when children are involved it really becomes difficult and can be quite heartbreaking. Thank you for reading and commenting. 🙂
