The SIX SENTENCE CUE OF THE WEEK IS
CHICKEN
“Mom, the big ducks in the yard said I’m a chicken, but you told me I’m a duck!” Freddie cried.
“Albert, why are the big ducks calling your little brother a chicken?”
“Because he is afraid to go near the cows.”
“Freddie, the big ducks mean you are afraid, not that you are a real chicken!”
“But mom, the cows are so much bigger than me!”
“Just because an animal is big does not necessarily mean it is dangerous and you do not have to be afraid of the cows.”

I loved this take on duck… and on being a chicken! It made me smile, and a good moral lesson in there too! 🙂

English and some other languages really allow us to play with words to give the other meanings. As Girlie suggested a great children’s book could crafted around this idea.

Thank you! There are a lot of little lessons like this that are helpful to children. I enjoy being able to use the same word for different meanings whenever possible.

Gee, this is the second story I’ve read that garners children’s books. But a moral lesson for us all. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.
