Firing Back
Marcus loved playing the guitar, but he wasn’t very good . In fact, he was terrible! He knew his playing was rough on the ears, but that didn’t stop him from trying.
He practiced every day, took lessons and his instructor almost gave up on him, but didn’t have the heart to refuse teaching him.
His own brothers had little hope for him and made fun of him trying so hard.
Marcus told them that he would become a star one day and they would not be invited to his grand performance.
Sure enough, his persistence paid off and he became very popular, sold thousands of records and proved to his brothers that he knew what he was talking about.
He did however, invite them to his grand performance.

“Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.” so they say. Beautiful and inspiring story, Jessie. And I’m glad he still ended up inviting his brothers to the concert. 😀

Thank you! A lot of times we have to fail before we succeed.

A great story of persistence in the face of challenge. Although it’s a bit ambiguous — did he invite his brothers to his grand performance because he forgave them? Or was it to show off how successful he was and how right he had been? Best place to do that is at your grand performance!

Ha! Ha! Probably a little of both! Thank you . 😊

Great story. Persistence can pay off! Isn’t awful that our family is often the people who tell us our dreams won’t work? I’ve always found that if it was something I wanted to do and knew I had the tenacity to do, I can keep striving for my goal. Great story on this subject and I’m glad he was kind, nice enough, and he wanted to show off to his brother 🙂

Thank you Mandi! I agree, family is usually the worst critics, which makes it even harder to stay persistent in trying to reach their goal.
