 THE FLOWER GARDEN

“Toby, this is Mr. Johns with the Brownwood Police Department,” Mr. Turner told his son.  “He has a question to ask you about Mrs. Jasmines flower garden.”

“Toby, did you walk through Mrs. Jasmines flower garden with your dog Sam?” Mr. Johns asked.

“No sir!  It wasn’t me!  I never walked in her flower garden.”

Mr. Johns looked down at Toby and repeated the question.

Toby looked up at Mr. Johns and gave the same answer.

“Toby, Mrs. Jasmine said she saw a boy and a black dog running through her flower garden, not once, but several times during the week,” Mr. Johns said.

“It wasn’t me,” Toby insisted.

“Are you sure, you are telling the truth?”

For the thousandth time, I promise you it wasn’t me!” Toby said in exasperation.

The phone rang, the call was for Mr. Johns, he answered it, then turned toward Toby and said, “son, I am so sorry to have questioned your answer, I know that you are telling the truth.”

Mrs. Jasmine discovered the new neighbor’s son has a dog just like Sam and they were trampling through her flower garden a few minutes ago.
