HAMILTON
“Skyler, do you think you should meet Hamilton at the ship?” Alice asked.
“Yes, I never knew what love was until I met him, then when distance pulled us apart, I found what true love is.”
“You said he didn’t want to see you, and stopped writing four months ago!”
“I know, but I’m not giving up on him.”
“Will you be allowed on the ship?”
“I should, he isn’t on a military ship this time.”
She hummed softly to herself to calm her nerves and tapped on the door with trembling hands.
Hamilton opened the door and they stood there staring at each other, as if in shock.
“Skyler! What are you doing here?”
“I had to come, I love you.”
“I thought you would never want to see me again. I’m not the man you once knew, Skyler.”
“Hamilton, losing part of your leg does not make you a different person. I love you not because of your body, but because of something I feel when I’m with you.”
“Skyler! You are the one thing in my life that is true and real. My future with you is endless, my darling, as is my love for you.”

Romantic and lovely. Good thing that true love endures. I’m glad she loved Hamilton even though he lost his legs.

People with a disability will go through a stage of thinking people won’t want them because they are not “whole”. You captured that feeling perfectly. Well done.
