MEMORIES
“Oh! Honey, look at that picture of the old pick-up truck,” Joanne cooed.
“It reminds me of our first date,” Johnathan said with a smile. “I was so proud of that old truck and how I was able to get it running.”
“Do you remember how uncomfortable and loud that truck was?” he asked.
“Yes! And you could not get it out of first gear!” she laughed.
“I know, but we made it to the drive-in movie and I made it to first base!” he remarked.
She giggled, and said, “yes, you sure did!”

Thanks, Joy! My mind went way back as soon as I saw this vehicle! I’ve heard lots of stories over the years and have a few of my own. 🙂

What do people do without those drive-in movie theaters?! 🙂

I have never been in one… Not sure they even exist here. 🙂

The screen is outside and the cars park by speakers and sit in their car to watch the movie. We use to be able to take as many people that would fit in the vehicle and the price was by vehicle, not by number of people. There use to be a playground in front where children could play before the movie started. There was also a concession stand where you could get out of your vehicle and buy popcorn, etc. I think there is only a few of these left and one of them is located about fifteen miles from where I live.

They pay more! And some things are not quite as convenient. Seeing a movie inside a theatre is an entirely different experience than watching it in the privacy of your vehicle. 🙂

A town near mine still has a drive-in–but now I take my kids. How things change!

Yes…they did! They just could not resist it, even though the memories are etched in their mind. 🙂

Old cars certainly hold many memories, expecially cars that stay with the same family for years. I suppose people simply don’t like parting with something that has shared their lives for so long. This was a lovely, romantic memory for the couple to share again,
