FLASH FICTION FOR THE PURPOSE PRACTITIONER ….Week #1 2016
The opening sentence for the January 1st Flash Fiction for the Purposeful Practitioner:
“Of all the places I thought I would end up on New Year’s Eve…”
Last Day Of 2015
“Why did it have to happen tonight?” Maxwell pouted.
Scarlet crossed her eyes at him, “because little pout face, it’s a sign.”
“What sign?”
“The big one in the sky that looks like huge dark clouds with lighting striking in all directions.”
“But why?”
“Probably because we can not see the fireworks tonight. Now, we will spend our last day of 2015 stuck in a bowling alley!”
“I hate bowling!”
“Welcome to the club, my little brother.”
“Let’s go over to the bookstore instead.”
“We can’t, it’s raining cats and dogs out there now.”
“It’s not raining cats and dogs!”
“That’s just an expression some people use when it’s raining really hard.”
“Hee! Hee! It would be fun to see cats and dogs dropping from the sky.”
“I figured you would say that.”
“Maxwell, we might as well make this a fun night.”
“Bowling is not fun, remember?”
“No bowling for us little brother. We will be bringing in the new year playing video games!”

The bowling lanes at my place has a bar… karaoke…an arcade…pool…ping-pong… and small diner. It was a great place to hang! Great take on the prompt. Thanks for the visit. Hope to see you next week!

Ah video games. How perfect. Would you believe my parents did not like video games so we weren’t allowed to play them until about Jr.High. They were never really my thing but I did enjoy the old Super Mario and Legend of Zelda games. When my brothers got more into I didn’t really. I enjoy the Nintendo Wii’s every now and then playing dance games. Great story. I liked how true to life it was.

Thank you, Mandi! My children played video games, but I never did. Even now, I try to do some with my granddaughter, but I’m terrible at it. She gets a big charge out of watching me play one on my Kindle. I usually end up getting stomped, drowned, or falling off a cliff way before I reach my destination! She is so quick and fast with it. I can type pretty fast, but video games..not so much! 😦

I would love to see cats and dogs dropping from the sky too. They may dressed in full armour suit to conquer the city! LOL! 😀 Fun take! 😀

Cute story Jessie! It certainly embodies the thinking of kids in today’s time (video games vs. bowling). LOL!

Thank you! Kids rather push buttons, then use energy to take a few steps and throw a 10 to 15 pound ball down an alley. (a sign of the times I guess! 🙂

Yes, I agree. Kids today don’t get enough exercise! They prefer computer games. My children require their children to be in at least one sport. My daughter’s daughter chose golf because she doesn’t like to exert herself on other sports. And has discovered she loves golf.
