The Blue Table
Mr. Witherspoon slowly walked to the cafe, entered and sat at the blue table. This was his daily routine.
The blue table was very special to him because he was sitting there when he learned he would become a father.
Now, many years later, he was spending Christmas alone and his son was missing in action in Afghanistan.
He watched the coffee cup being placed on the table.
He glanced up and at that moment he saw his son in uniform, saying “Merry Christmas dad, I’m home now!”

Is this a true story? I thought it was fiction as it’s so evocative! How beautiful if it is true…

It’s fiction. I just happened to picture a man walking into the cafe and it all came together after that. I have a special place in my heart for people waiting to see their loved ones again after going off to war.
