SUNDAY PHOTO FINISH FICTION….December 27, 2015
As the final Sunday Photo Fiction, I thought I would choose a photo of what used to be a bamboo plant vase. If you want to take part in Sunday Photo Fiction, then just write a story or poem, with around 200 words in it. It can be less than 200, or more. If you are going to go over, please don’t take it too far over.
The story doesn’t have to revolve around the subject. There have been some stories in the past where the subject of the photo was the briefest of mentions in the tale.
Lucky Bamboo Stalks
“Maria, here comes that handsome young man again,” Mrs. Massey said.
“How do I look?” Maria asked anxiously.
“Dear, you look fabulous, as always!”
“Too bad he doesn’t seem to notice,” Maria complained.
“Well, I don’t understand why he doesn’t ask you out. After all, he comes in here every week and I’m not sure he does it just to order flowers for his bosses customers.”
“I know, he talks to me all the time, but I never get asked out. He knows more about me than I do myself!”
“Good morning, Maria,” Barron said. “I need to buy an arrangement for a very special young lady. Can you help me?”
“Sure, I suggest the Lucky Bamboo Stalks. They are lovely and have so much meaning when put together in an arrangement. Two stalks, represents love, three happiness, five good health, and six represents more happiness.”
“Perfect!! I’ll wait while you get it ready.”
That evening before Maria left work, a messenger handed her an arrangement of Lucky Bamboo Stalks with a note addressed to her.
She read….”Lovely Maria, would you allow me the honor of taking you to the Annual Ball next Saturday? Anxiously waiting for your reply, Barron.”

ABOUT LUCKY BAMBOO
Traditional Feng Shui practitioners believe that the number of lucky bamboo stalks has meaning when put together in an arrangement, especially when given as a gift. Almost any number of stalks in a lucky bamboo arrangement imparts luck or fortune in some way.
Lucky bamboo placement is always a popular topic. However, there is no particularly set location that one should place a lucky bamboo arrangement. Simply choose a spot that helps balance the space. Just putting it on your desk, will immediately bring life to your workstation and add vitality.
7 lucky bamboo – Seven is always thought of a lucky number
8 lucky bamboo – In Asian culture, the number 8 conveys luck of wealth.
9 lucky bamboo – conveys good fortune
21 lucky bamboo – encompasses all (health, happiness, wealth, and fortune)
