Doom and Gloom

“Good morning captain!”  Commander Marshall said.

“Good morning Marshall!”  Captain Bright replied with a smile.

“What do you have for me this morning, Marshall?”

“It’s the U.S.,  sir. There’s doom and gloom everywhere!”

“How serious is it, Marshall?”

“To the extreme, sir.”

“I’ll contact their Commander in Chief.”

“Everyone there has tried to reach him, but nobody can get through to him!”

“What do you hear from the field?”

“There’s murder, demonstrations, terrorists attacks, broken health system, corruption, constant lies, freedom of speech gradually being taken away and that’s just a sample, sir.”

Captain Bright said, “let’s get right on it!  Shed some light on the situation.”

The champagne towers were immediately erected with bright colorful lights radiating throughout the country.

Captain Bright said, “it will take a while but soon things will change for the better.  The people have hope now and will work together toward getting their country back to the exceptional one it has always been!”

  1. I liked your story, it was very hopeful. But I have a feeling there was never anytime that the US or any other country for that matter was as good as it seemed. People always remember the good and forget the bad. Corruption in any government is always there. There is no way we can exist without it. Just my take but I wish we could take the view you have in this story and call it real life 🙂 Great job!

  2. Thank you, Mandi! I appreciate your reading and input. You are so right..there is always corruption in government …some worse than others and we seem to appreciate our country even greater when we feel it is folding under and we are seeking a way to prevent it from happening. There will always be good times and bad times no matter where you live. If a made up story could change the world….Imagine what could be accomplished! Or I suppose it could work the other way as well, but I prefer to think on the positive side of that. 🙂

  3. There is something to be said for ‘light therapy’ – now if we can only create some kind of weapon that will turn guns, knives, and anything else that uselessly kills into jelly.

I am having fun with the BeeBee snippets. Sometimes just one prompt, and other times I get out the ‘shoehorn’ 😉

    Cheers, Jules
