PRIZED POSSESSION

SUNDAY PHOTO FINISH  … 10/18/2015

Sunday Photo Fiction is a weekly writing challenge where a photo is used as a prompt for a piece of fiction using around 200 words. The piece doesn’t have to centre around exactly what the photo is, it can be just used as a basis for a story. This photo is a statue of a dog that used to be the mascot for an aerodrome. His name was Bob.

PRIZED POSSESSION

“I can’t believe your uncle left the bulk of his estate to Darin, ” Allison said.

“Well, he did, ” Jake replied.

“But why?  Darin has always been so distant from your uncle George and never did anything for him unless he got paid for it!”

“I don’t understand it either.  I do appreciate uncle George trusting me with his most prized possession, however, leaving Darin the new car and three thousand dollars was a complete shock to me.”

Allison looked at him and raised her eyebrows as she said, “sure, a real prized possession, a tall statue of a dog!”

“He is rather handsome , don’t you think?”

Allison laughed and shook her head at Jake as he grabbed her and swung her around.  “We have each other, my dear sweet Allison.”

“Look! We knocked the dogs head off, ” Allison cried.

Inside the dogs head they found a very sweet note to Jake from his uncle and three hundred thousand dollars!

  1. LOL! Good thing they knocked the dog’s head off or they would never have known they were rich! Haha! Great story Jessie. Love that they were happy getting the uncle’s “most prized possession.”

  2. A happy ending all around — they would be fine with just a dog statue, but they ended up with the big inheritance instead! (And maybe they can fix the dog statue and have both. I’m sad thinking about the broken dog, after reading so many other stories on this prompt about beloved dogs.)

  3. Actually, the head is suppose to come off…that is how they would get the note and money…then put the head back in place….sort of like a huge piggy bank, only in this case..a doggie bank. 😃
