SUNDAY PHOTO FINISH ….OCTOBER 11, 2015
Photo Fiction is a weekly writing challenge where a photo is used as a prompt for a piece of fiction using around 200 words. The piece doesn’t have to centre around exactly what the photo is, it can be just used as a basis for a story. This photo is one I love from when I went to Hardknott Pass, Cumbria in 2014 for a friend’s wedding.
BROWN MOUNTAIN CURSE
After traveling for three days on the tour everyone was still excited and happy.
On the fourth day, not only did the scenery change from a lush green mountain to a dull brownish colored mountain, but everyone on the bus seemed to change as well.
They seemed on edge and began to bicker back and forth at each other.
I had heard of the Brown Mountain Curse, but it was my first time to drive a tour bus on the brown mountain.
I knew that our mirror neurons could foster our ability to empathize with the emotions we observe in others, so I had everyone get off the bus as I handed them a cool drink. Then, I asked each person to share a joyful event in their life and before everyone had a turn doing this, I noticed a great change in their mood.
Everyone was back to being happy and I felt the Brown Mountain Curse was now lifted and we continued on our tour.

True! It sounded so simple…but not many things of that nature is simple. Thank you for reading and commenting.

Maybe it is how to remove a curse. I liked the way the driver helped.

And it was a happy crew once again that left the brown mountain. The driver is one clever man. ☺

Yes, to get that many people to change their attitudes is quite remarkable.
