FFfAW – Week of 09-22-2015

Thank you Graham Lawrence for our photo prompt this week! It is lovely!

Emma had always enjoyed painting, but today she could not bring herself to do it.  She dropped the brush from her hand, moved slowly to the swing in the flower garden and sat down.

Memories of her late husband, Joel, came flooding within her mind and she wept once more.

Joel always encouraged her to paint and loved to see her paint a butterfly in her paintings.

At the very moment she was thinking of him, a beautiful butterfly that had all the colors of the garden landed right on her hand.  She looked at it and suddenly felt a deep sense of love and encouragement in her heart.

That day she painted a picture of her flower garden and added a beautiful butterfly to it.

  1. It’s a soft and sweet narration. I’m happy that the butterfly ignites a fire of love in Joel’s heart. I felt sorry for her when she cried in the memory of her late husband and I’m glad that she painted a picture of her flower garden 🙂

  2. Ahhh, this was so bitter sweet. She lost her beloved husband but he came back to her in the form of a butterfly! This is a wonderful story. I feel her painting that day turned out beautiful. Thank you for participating in Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers Challenge!
