JAMES and ANNIE

“James, where are you taking me?” Annie asked.

“It’s a very special place,” he said.

“Do you mean some place like that crazy restaurant with the pelagic fish that they served on a frosted blue plate with the fish eyeballs looking at me?”

“Of course not silly, I knew you would reject that idea immediately!”

“Your right about that!  The spoon they gave me to eat my soup with was cold as an iceberg, like they got it out of the freezer and it was big enough to paddle a boat!”

“You said you wanted to go someplace different, right?”

“Sure, but how different?  I don’t want any raw fish this time.  You can forget about anything that is organic too because I’ve eaten enough of that stuff to keep me healthy for decades!”

“James?”

“What now?”

“Why in the world are we sliding down this embankment?  It’s mostly made of coarse sand and now I feel like I have marbles in my shoes.”

“James!  You sneaky little devil, this is the most beautiful spot for a picnic that I have ever seen.  How did you get it all set up for us?  And, look at that gorgeous rainbow!”

He reached for her and slid his hands up her back in a slow caress that made her heart beat wildly.

“For you, my love, I can make anything possible.”

  1. Reminds me of my recent overnight to the city with my hubby. After a deli lunch, a play – he surprised me with the suggestion and made reservations for a harbor lights tour! And then we had diner at the restaurant where we were over-nighting it. Guess after 36 years that’s a nice way to spend an anniversary 😉

This is the story that Al’s link took me to.
