Seattle Slew said, “hurry up Assult, we don’t want to miss the introduction.”

“Where are Secretariat and Citation?” Assult asked.

“Here they come taking their own sweet time, as usual, ” Seattle Slew replied.

“What is this all about?” Assult asked.

“We are going to have a new member joining us this morning.”

“Do you know anything about him?”  Assult asked.

Seattle Slew said, “he is a little different.”

“In what way?”

“Well, It’s been said that he never drinks water.”

“Then what does he drink?”

“He always drinks wine.”

“What else?”

“His bridle is silver, his mane is gold, and no one knows the worth of his saddle.”

“And?”

“His name is Stewball, and he was a race horse.”

  1. Great story Jessie but I feel like an idiot. Is Stewball or was Stewball a racehorse? I figured with the names of the other horses that he must be. I love how the horses are talking to each other, it makes a cute story! Thank you for participating in FFfAW Challenge! I appreciate you.

  2. Thank you. I would imagine they communicate in some ways. I know when I am riding them there are some that do not like the other horses to take up their space…their ears go back very quickly! That is a sign that they are not happy! Sometimes they will nip at another horse if they are displeased. They have different personalities just like humans.

  3. I knew the name of the other race horses, so googled “Stewball.” Found out he was both a race horse in the 19th century, immortalized in song, the most recent by Peter, Paul and Mary. Thanks for the story.

      • They are but I am not a big fan of horse . I am afraid of them. I had a bad experience in the past. Every time they come near them I am not at ease and they know that. Then they want to come nearer and I want to back off. Still can’t get over my feeling, always tense inside and they feel and know it.
