DISTORTED

FLASH FICTION FOR ASPIRING WRITERS CHALLENGE

This is my 100 word submission for the Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers Challenge, week of 09-08-2015. We are given a photo prompt and approximately 100-175 words with which we build our stories with.

Thank you Joy, for the photo prompt.

DISTORTED

“I need to go home now, ” Nikki said.

Eric replied, “please let me take you home.”

“No!” She said.

“But it’s dangerous Nikki!”

“Eric, I have to do it by myself eventually and today is the day.”

Nikki stood on her tiptoes, leaned toward him and gave him a very passionate kiss. “I will be just fine, Mr. Worry Wart,” she said, as she slowly moved away from him.

With shaking hands and beads of perspiration trickling down her forehead,  Nikki reached for the handrail and forced herself to step on the bus.  She was extremely fidgety, but managed to keep a smile on her face.

She got off the bus and felt like skipping and singing like a small child, so she did!

Standing in front of her apartment she called Eric and screamed with excitement, “Nikki is home safe and sound and she did not let the distorted view along the way stop her from getting here.”

  1. If you view the world through distorted lenses then of course it would be dificult to get from one place to another and would be very frightening! Great story Jessie! I like the twist you used for this prompt. Very imaginative. Thank you for participating in Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers Challenge!

  2. Thank you for reading and commenting. Yea, some days are harder than others. A lot depends on where you are and the event. I think it is like most things in life though..the more you do it, the easier it becomes.
