 MYSTERIOUS

Mason was driving his new Rolls Royce in the mountain area enjoying the spectacular views.

He stopped at a small look-out area and sat on a large rock overlooking the valley.  He saw something sparkling down the mountainside.  He walked down to get a better look.

He saw a vehicle covered with tree branches and carefully maneuvered his way toward it.  There was a dead man near the car.  He heard a man’s voice calling for help, but when he reached the car he found a young child trapped under it. The child was unconscious and bleeding.  After several attempts to lift the car, he decided go find someone to help him.

When Mason turned to go there was a man standing behind him. The man motioned for them to lift the car together and without difficulty they moved the part that had the child trapped.

After pulling the child free, Mason looked up to thank the man, but there was no one there.

CARMELA

CARMELA

0617151107         0617151115a       0617151106

Carmela grew up on a small farm three miles outside of the city. She had two younger brothers.

Everyone had their assigned chores to do each day and most of them done before they went to school.  After the chores had been completed everyone sat at the table for breakfast and there was a lot of conversation and laughter.  Every meal was joyful and there was a feeling of security and peace.

One morning Carmela had taken care of her chores and was returning to the house when she saw a van leaving and turning toward town.  As she entered the house, she felt fearful. Her mother was not in the kitchen cooking, her father was sitting in a chair slumped over to one side and there was total silence in the house.

She frantically ran from room to room and found her mother gagged and tied up.  Her brothers were laying on the floor and had been severely beaten.  They were barely alive!

Her mother was in a state of shock. Carmela took the gag out of her mouth, untied her and had her lie on the bed. Then, she raced to the phone, stumbling along the way and called the hospital for an ambulance and then placed a call to the police station.

The ambulance and policemen arrived at the same time.  Her mother was treated for shock and the rest of her family taken to the hospital.

The policemen questioned Carmela, but she was unable to give them much information. They told her a detective would be coming the next day.

The following days were complete agony for Carmela.  She and her mother sat in a dry silence as they ate their meals.

She recalled her father having said that laughter is therapeutic and amiability lengthens the life span.  Laughter and relaxation had left their house.

Detective Adam Colton had spoken with Carmela several  times.  She had given him the description of the van, the direction it was going, and the approximate time it pulled away from the house.  She saw three men in the van and they had hats on that looked alike.

Fingerprints were taken at the scene of the crime and  they matched the fingerprints of three men that had recently been released from prison.  They worked at a factory in a county thirty miles away.

The men were arrested and charged with battery, theft, and violating their parole.

Carmela’s family was slowly recovering from their injuries.

Laughter and relaxation had returned to their house.

Investigation Results

DeeGee had been rescued from the service supervisor’s apartment  located in the stairwell area of the hotel.  She had helped her with some luggage, gone back in the apartment to turn off the lights, the door shut and got jammed.

She spent her time reading a motivational book she found on the table.  She had a feeling of comfort reading it, especially after she removed the painting of an old graveyard that was hanging on the wall. The book gave her a sense of being with Damon, but she couldn’t explain why.

Damon had written the book, but there was a different author’s name in it.  He was a ghost writer and kept his identity hidden because of the militia.

It was apparent that Damon was deeply in love with DeeGee.  His parents told him and Garnet that she had been adopted after they were kidnapped.

DeeGee’s love let him see normal things in an extraordinary way.  He told her that his love for her was a journey, starting at forever, and ending never.

Investigation

Garnet and Marla had arrived the next day.

Damon and Garnet had an emotional visit with their parents.  Their father was out of the coma and was gradually recovering.

Their mother sensed the strong emotional connection between Damon and DeeGee.  During their conversation Damon and Garnet received a call from the police.

The investigation of DeeGee’s disappearance had turned intense.  There was a serial killer in the area.  Three women with hair color blond, brunette, and black had been found with newspaper stuffed down their throat and a piece placed across their body.  Each victim was found at a different hotel.

The service supervisor of the hotel DeeGee was staying at had not been questioned.  She had gone to her parent’s ranch to help them with their horses for a few days.  She was returning to work within a few hours.

DeeGee was trapped in a tiny apartment.  She spent her time reading a book she found in the room, praying diligently, and banging on the iron door with a pot in hopes that someone would hear her.

The Meaning

Joanna had dreamed about Alexander.  He was missing in action for over five weeks.

She was abruptly awoken by the sound of the clock outside her apartment window.  She felt it meant something, but what, she did not know.

That morning she took a walk on the beach and sat on her and Alexander’s special rock..the A & J.  She prayed for his safe return and felt an urgency to go back home.

Shortly after she returned, she received a telegram.  She was faint, nervous, and trembled as she read the message with tears flowing from eyes like a waterfall!

The message…Rescued, coming home my darling Joanna.  I need you like a heart needs a beat.  There is only two times I want to be with you…Now and Forever.

KITCHEN

Time for another installment of   Friday Fictioneers  hosted by Rochelle.  100 words or so based on the image below.

kitche-picture-prompt

KITCHEN

The kitchen was immaculate which was most unusual!

Only the dish drainer, dish detergent, and white pitcher remained on the counter top.

The detectives brushed the entire kitchen with powder, hoping to find fingerprints, but none were found.

It was indisputable that someone had thoroughly cleaned every inch of the kitchen!

Emma never missed cooking a meal, but tonight, there was no meal cooked.  She was found on the floor with a cookbook in her hand. A page was missing from it.  It was an old family recipe that she refused to share.

The recipe thief had struck again!
