Friday Fictioneers is a flash fiction challenge which asks us to write a story in no more than 100 words from the photo prompt kindly provided by the host, Rochelle Wisoff Fields. To join in with the challenge, or find out more about it, just follow the link to Rochelle’s blog. Here is this week’s prompt . . . |
Thank you Roger Bultot for the photo prompt.
“In Charge”
The wind was in charge that day!
Rodney tried to get the fire under control, but he was no match against the force of the wind. Everything had burnt to a crisp. He was sure Ellie would be furious with him.
Indeed, Ellie was furious! She had planned the back-porch cook-out for weeks.
Everyone stood by while the firemen battled the blaze as they watched their dinner being destroyed.
Words (71)
Wait.
Was that the firemen’s dinner that went up in smoke?
If yes, didn’t anyone tell the, not to play with matches?

Surely they could save just one burger? 🙂

Somehow I think Rodney isn’t out of the heat yet! I’m feeling a little sorry for him, being expected to control the weather.

Too much fuel to the fire! Thanks for commenting.

Poor Rodney. I don’t think he could have controlled the wind if he’d tried. Let’s hope Ellie realises that once she calms down, Good story, Jessie.

Thank you, I appreciate your reading and commenting. I had the desire to avoid writing a story on the real horror of a house fire. My in-laws house burnt down years ago. Fortunately, no one in the family was harmed.

Dear Jessie,
First, welcome to Friday Fictioneers.
As for dinner, I think my husband would be happy. He likes his burgers blackened. 😉 Nicely done.
Shalom,
Rochelle

Hopefully it was just the porch that was damaged and not the whole house.

No, just the porch, and that was bad enough! Thanks for the read and comment. 🙂
