I was driving through a town I use to live in many years ago and I noticed the Main Street Book store was still in business. It sure brought back a special memory for me.
I had worked there when I was sixteen and a guy named Taylor use to come in every day and buy a book. After a few weeks I got up the nerve to ask him if he was really reading all the books he bought. He just smiled and said it was a chance see someone he really admired and was working up the nerve to ask this person to go on a date with him. I looked perplexed at this explanation and that was when he reached for my hand and placed a small velvet rose in my palm. Then, I saw the words written on it with black ink…”will you please go on a date with me?”

Thank you for participating and I enjoyed your story. Is it true? It sounded true. I would love for you to continue writing stories for Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writer, but next time, please attach the prompt photo and add the number of words of our story at the end. Welcome and please come back! Oh, and if you get a chance, read the “About Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers.” Thanks!

I’m glad you liked my story. The story is fiction. I have never worked in a bookstore before or known a guy named Taylor. I must be doing something wrong when I post. I tried to follow the “About Flash Fiction For Aspiring Writers” directions but something is wrong. I see the prompt picture on my blog, the story is below it, and so is the word count. I’m new at this and trying to get things right. I would appreciate any help you can give me. I would love to continue participating. Thank you.

You are saying that when you published your blog it published with the photo on it? In other words, when it went out public, did it have the photo attached?
This is what I do as I find it is so much easier for me. I follow my own blog and make sure I get “instant email notices of posts.” That way, my post comes to me in an email. I can see exactly what it looks like when other people are viewing it. At the very bottom of that email is the url to my post. (The url is important to know and I find that the easiest way to get my url).
To be able to follow your own post (if you are not already), follow someone – anyone – it doesn’t matter. Because when you follow someone WP sends you an email notice that you followed that person. On that email is a link titled, “Subscription Management” and you need to click that link.
It takes you into a WP area where their is a list of all the blogs you follow. It give you the ability to change how you receive notices to these blogs. You can choose, instantly, daily, weekly, or off. For your own blog you need to choose INSTANTLY receive notices of blog posts. First, at the very top of your subscription list is a box and in the box you will type in this: https://thenameofyourblog.wordpress.com and select the button that says, Follow. and it should make you following your blog now.
WordPress is getting ready any day now to give a Blogging 101 class (free) and I highly suggest you take this class, it is very helpful.

What a sweet story. Did she go out with him? And I like that you used a memory. I think you could actually name the town or make up a name, it’ll make it more specific. Nice job.

Sweet! Damn, you made my grinch heart grow a size… My question is how was it written on the rose? That sounds awkward to write on!!

Thank you so much. I’m gald you enjoyed it. I should have conveyed that the rose was made of paper or perhaps something else that words could be writtn on or letters pasted to. Thank you for pointing this out.

We have all done that before! One of those cases where a little exposition is actually handy. Despite the current advice to keep exposition to a minimum.
